CONYERS -- The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office wrapped up a 24-hour warrant roundup Wednesday that resulted in the arrests of more than 20 suspects with active warrants.
Beginning Tuesday afternoon, deputies with the RCSO went to known addresses for suspects with outstanding warrants in an effort to arrest them. According to the RCSO, while the agency does seek out suspects with warrants on a daily basis, this more concentrated effort teamed up deputies from various divisions within the RCSO to more effectively locate and arrest suspects with warrants.
In total, 23 suspects were arrested in the 24-hour period. Most of the warrants were for failure to appear and probation violation, some of which stemmed from original felony charges.
"This is just the first of many warrant roundups as part of a new effort by the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office to get criminals off the streets," said Sheriff Eric Levett.
The RCSO is also asking the public to let the Sheriff's Office know the whereabouts of anyone who has an active warrant in Rockdale County by calling Capt. Mike Ransom with the Warrants & Civil Division at 770-278-8005 or by submitting the information through the website at www.rockdalesheriff.com under the Contact Us section.

Levett has come through like I knew he would. WigingTON could not have, nor would have ever coordinated such an effort. There's a new sheriff in town. As for the olde one, na na na na, na na na na heyyyyyyyyy good bye.

Boy, he sure showed those "failure to show" and probation violators, didn't he?
What a guy, creating a rep by attacking the cold case files. He should do a reality showboat...oops, Freudian slip, a reality show.

It's only his first month, chill out. I know the sheriff and hope he does well bit lets be careful before we get excited about locking up 23 people.

This is nothing more than a publicity stunt. Freeman did the same thing at the City when he was there. Let the people think we are actually doing something about crime by trying to clear out these old warrants for traffic offenses.

The real show will be in two years when we check the crime states. Oh by the way will he still have officers in the speed trap zones??? Instead of patrolling the neighborhoods?

All three of you are demonstrating your usual habit of expressing an opinion without having any idea what you are talking about. The Sheriff's Office has been doing "warrant roundups" for years. Usually they involve other agencies to include the U.S. Marshalls, but not necessarily. Wigington did these, Norman did these and Wallace did these. It's not new, but it is important. Why don't all three of you stick to stuff you know like the current drama on Jersey Shores or the long lines in Wal-Mart?

I was merely responding to Travelingman who likes to gloat when Lovett ties his shoes, or breathes, and not missing a click when it comes to slamming Wigginton.
Another point, if the RCSO has exercised "warrant roundups" for years, then why all the press coverage on this one?
BTW, I don't watch network TV and my las trip to Walmart was in 2001.

I agree. I will be impressed when officer cruise through my neighborhood and actually stop to see how I am doing or take the time to get to know me instead of racing off to see who they can catch speeding.
