Ron Bubba Messer

Ron "Bubba" Messer, 67, of Newborn, GA passed away Monday July 15, 2013 peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. He was born on April 27, 1946 in Dothan, AL to Frances and Horace Messer, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Frankie, and son, Billy Messer. Surviving are his wife, Susan Shumake; daughters and son-in-law, Lorie and Michael Donaldson, and Lillian (Sissy) Messer; mother, Lillian Deese; sisters and brother-in-law, Diane Sewell, Denise and Joe Naglosky, Delaine Jordan; nephews, Caleb Sewell and Jeremy Naglosky; and niece, Abbie Naglosky. Bubba was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy. He was an avid outdoorsman and will be best remembered for his love and knowledge of fishing. Along with being a self-employed contractor for thirty years, he also built and sold handmade fishing lures called Bubbas Flat Bad Baits. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 5:00pm at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield, Ga.
