Coleyne Ann Thompson

Coleyne Ann Thompson, 73, of Conyers, Ga peacefully passed Tuesday, June 18th, 2013 with family and friends by her side. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by; her sister, Mary Margaret Klika, four devoted children; Tracy Elizabeth Thompson, DeWitt Thompson III, DeAnna Thompson Doty, and MaryAnn Rene Thompson, six wonderful grand children; Adrian Lee OBright, Christopher Thompson, Tonya Smith, Morgan Gheris, Brandy Mae Doty, and April Doty, eight great-grand children, a niece, Kelly Thompson, a nephew, James Klika, and many treasured friendships. Ann was born in San Diego on October 21, 1940, a daughter of the late Hubert Curtis Blackerby, a published author and respected editor, and Coleyne Elizabeth Lynch Blackerby, a registered nurse. She lived briefly in San Diego, Baltimore, MD, Arlington, VA, Washington D.C., and NY. Her family settled in Ashville, NC, where she graduated first in her class from Plonk Catholic School of Creative Arts and was awarded the Junior Achievement Scholarship. She continued her education at The Sisters of Providence Immaculata University in Washington D.C. She married her childhood sweetheart, the late DeWitt Thompson II in 1963 in Las Vegas, NV. They moved to Atlanta, then briefly to Cleveland, Oh and then back to Atlanta. With four children, Ann decided to sow her seeds in the safe, and then, small town of Conyers, Ga where she remained until her departure. Ann was an Associate Broker at Red Carpet Lee Staples Realty for three decades where she received many awards as Listing, Selling, and Closing Agent, and was a proud member of The Rockdale Board of Realtors. In addition to real estate, she co-owned and operated local businesses such as East Metro Temporary Services and The Sub Barn. Ms. Thompson was a life-time student with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, an avid reader, a writer, an artist, a gardener, a teacher, a loyal friend, and a devoted Mother. She believed in miracles and the healing powers of positive thought. Her mind was enlightened and her heart was pure. She leaves all that knew her a life time legacy of love, laughter, and light. As Mom would say, Consider yourselves hugged, and This too, Shall pass. Services will be held at Unity Church of Rockdale located at 933 Commercial St NE. Old Town Conyers, GA 30012 on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 2pm, officiated by Reverend Francie Potter. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Church of Rockdale, 933 Commercial St NE. Conyers, GA 30012.
