PEACHTREE CITY -- The Heritage girls tennis team went 2-1 at last weekend's Peachtree City Tournament. The Patriots lost to Starr's Mill, a three-time state semifinalist, in Saturday's semifinal round, 4-0. Heritage got a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 win by Logan Bouchillon to knock off Norcross, 3-2 in the quarterfinals.
"This team, we've got 10 strong players, they've done the work and they are improving each match out," said Heritage coach Brian Smith. "They've got good chemistry. Starr's Mill is traditionally one of the top four or five teams in the state."
The semifinal appearance was the second in the program's history, with the last being the 2009 team that reached the Class AAAA final four.
"We use this tournament to determine what kind of players we want to settle in (to each spot), get a lot of match play in," Smith said.
The Heritage boys went 0-2 in the tournament, losing to Westlake in the opening round and Newnan in the consolation round.
