Rockdale tennis handles Loganville

CONYERS -- The Rockdale tennis teams defeated Loganville on Wednesday at the Rockdale Tennis Center with the girls winning 4-1 and the boys cruising to a 7-1 victory.

Summer Walker got things started at No. 1 singles, beating Bethany Bowers, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 2 Ciara Chesser also cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sarah Baik. At No. 3 singles, Aliyah Byrd defeated Bianca Guilyard, 6-1, 6-1, and the No. 2 doubles team of Abby Bradford and Sydney Norton won 6-4, 6-4 over Emma Strong and Delany Gish.

The boys played eight-game pro set-five singles matches and three doubles matches-and the Bulldogs' No. 1, Patrick Sanders, and No. 2 Trey Hull each won 8-0, while No. 3 Logan Hull picked up an 8-4 victory.

No. 4 Bruce Mitchell won 8-2 over Zijian Pena, then teamed up with Abenet Adisu in an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Collin Shamley and Cameron Dabro won 8-3 and the No. 3 team (Chris DaSilva and Aaron Barron) won 8-1.

"It's good. Loganville, even though they used to be in the region, it was good to get out there and play them," said Rockdale coach Stephen Sansing. "Always like playing Loganville."
