COVINGTON -- A pair of homers by Nick Womack and Peyton Pallay helped the Eastside Eagles remain perfect in their 9-2 win over Morgan County on Tuesday.
While the offense was on full speed including Womack's homer in the third inning and Pallay's in the sixth, the defense also rose to the challenge behind staring pitcher Daniel Garrett.
Womack also helped the Eagles on the scoreboard with a double with Hunter Ballard (double), Cody Walker (double) and Drew Buckhault (triple) also getting extra-base hits.
The Eagles (7-0) shut down Morgan County in the first inning as the Bulldogs (5-4) had runners on the corners. Garret and Eastside's defense continued to keep Morgan County off balance as the Bulldogs only had two hits through five innings of play.
While the defense did its job, the Eagles' bats came alive as they scored five runs in the first three innings before the Bulldogs found a way to quiet the Eastside offense.
Morgan County cut Eastside's lead by scoring twice in the sixth inning. But the Eagles responded with four runs in the home half of the inning. Following a two-run double by Walker, Pallay went yard over the left field fence to give the Eagles a seven-run edge.
