Rockdale Citizen Poll - 2-19-2012

"Who's in control? ... We have-18 wheelers parked at Pine Log Road at Highway 138, and at Highway 20 and Carr Road, and the large used car lot located at Zingara Road and Hightower Road ... all of which is illegal! Isn't anyone paying attention? Why do our county/city officials and law enforcement continue to allow these properties be trashed ...with no one doing anything? All these eyesores accomplish is lower all our property values."

"Has anyone heard anymore about the Daquavious Mapp case? Did they ever find the killer? Doesn't anyone want that case solved?"

Rockdale Citizen Poll - 2-5-2012

"I would like to say a great thank you to Conyers Police Officer Williams. I had my first fender bender this weekend at PetSmart with a very irate woman. I tried my very best to behave as an adult and keep my temper down. Officer Williams did a great job in controlling the situation which helped my blood pressure. Thank you very much Officer Williams, keep up the great work!"

"There are many high school students under the age of 18 getting tattoos in this county. I just read in another article that a mother in Cobb County was arrested for letting her 10-year-old son get a tattoo...."

"Picture perfect rescue at Johnson Park Pool Thursday night. Great job by county lifeguards. Quick thinking, quick response, cool heads and they used their training ... outstanding job guys! Excellent."

“I remember Judge Nation has banished some people from the county as part of their sentence. The particular case I remember was a repeat DUI, but I think that is an underutilized punishment. We need to start banishing people. The police can put it in the computer like a bench warrant. If you get pulled over for any reason and your name pops up, one year in jail, then back to banishment. Just think how quickly this town would clean out if we did this for criminals with two or more felonies. If they are mothers or fathers, they would have to move their whole family out of town. If they are criminals, their kids are probably being raised wrong too, so that would help the schools out. Something to think about.”

Rockdale Citizen Poll - 1-8-2012

"A suggestion for Rockdale County would be to put a place on their website where people could submit problems with roads. Similar to the 'pothole' line that Atlanta implemented a few years ago."

Rockdale Citizen Poll - 1-1-2012

"I would just like to speak peace to Conyers for the year 2012. I hope this is a great year for the honest citizens who work hard and do what is best for our town. I hope they continue to stand up for what is right, make the correct decisions in the polls, and come to understand better how to keep our town peaceful, prosperous and happy. Merry Christmas and happy New Year."

"A major problem with this country is we are scared to defend our rights. Changing names of mascots, flags and kissing up to religious factions is getting out of hand. This is America, we were born of majority rights, and 'offending' one person should not change things. Lawsuits fly around for the most idiotic things. People have rights and others have their rights, too."

"I would like to say a word of thanks to Kevin Rogers, the principal of the RCHS ninth-grade academy. I have had my kids go through his program and I appreciate his hard work, professionalism, and support that he gives the students, parents, and teachers. He has great teachers under him and seems to support them very well. He provides a firm but upbeat environment for the kids to excel in."

Rockdale Citizen Poll - 12-11-2011

"Once again, SSEMC had the right of way workers out using chainsaws, etc. at 7 a.m. this morning. Seven! Could they not start such noisy work at a more decent hour of the day? Some of us are stay home moms (who may have happened to be up half the night with sick kids). Just seems like 8 in the morning would be a more decent time to make such noise outside of people's homes."

Rockdale Citizen Poll - 12-4-2011

"Twice this week, I drove on Highway 138 towards Conyers and saw four young adults walking in the righthand lane of traffic. You passed Heritage High and have to swerve over to avoid young adults casually walking in the lane of traffic. Do they want someone to hit them? Are they just stupid? Can the police please monitor this action of pedestrians? The same thing happen to me on Honey Creek. The road is for automobiles."

"I see slaves in Conyers almost every day. On my way in to work, I stopped at a local gas station on Irwin Bridge to get coffee and I see guys in there that are buying the cheap 40 oz. beers at 7 a.m. They are usually on foot and usually buying several bottles for the day. They are slaves to that alcohol and cannot make it through a day without it. I want to give them Sundays off so I will vote against Sunday sales. I would also like to say that those people would not even consider living in this county if they couldn't get cheap booze. Something for the BOC to consider. Those folks are not helping our community in any way except the small amount of taxes they pay on the beer. They cost us a lot in public services and by the fact that many good families do not want their children growing up around that. So they leave or decide not to move here because we have attracted a bad element here."

"Teachers in Rockdale County are tired of having the rules of the 'hoop jumping' exercise that their evaluator calls an observation changed on them every year. It is high time we had the ability to provide feedback on those evaluating us! If students can now give feedback on teachers, why can't teachers give feedback on the administration?"

Rockdale Citizen Poll - 11-13-2011

"Our students are more than data. They are human beings!"
