IOWA CITY, IOWA -- ACT kicks off its annual high school student poster design contest on October 18. The goal of the contest is to encourage others to plan and prepare for college. Winners will be selected based on creativity, visual appeal and overall impact.
Barksdale Boys & Girls Club member Michael Knoblock, son of Celina Knoblock who also works at the club as the Latino Outreach Coordinator, recently designed a T-shirt as part of the Lexis Nexis Windward Challenge 2010 that was sold at a 5K event and raised $100,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. Knoblock, 14, is a student at the Rockdale Magnet School of Science and Technology. He also received an iPad as a prize for best design.

Rockdale Career Academy's Technology Student Association recently participated in CORE (Chapter Officer Retreat for Excellence) in Clayton. The chapter officers learned valuable skills such as leadership techniques, teamwork activities and how to run an effective TSA chapter and also participated in a Light the Night walk and along with over 500 other TSA officers raised over $3,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
