Even though I know they would have loved to win State, making it to the Final Four and ending with a 30-2 season is something to be extremely proud of. The team played as gentlemen, with extreme poise and discipline. Newton County should make it a point to let them know how much this season meant to all of us. Thank you again ... To the ... person that responded to my comment about the ‘resegregation going on in our community by the ones screaming ‘its racial’ all of the time ... here’s a bit for you. 1. I have not one but two biracial children. By choice. 2. I am not a hillbilly. 3. If blacks were all about equality then why are they the first ones to shout it’s racial or to say someone owes them something just because they are black. 3. All I was saying was if God says he does not look, then why do you all still live in the past. And finally, I do not owe you anything, not even the time I am spending on your response. Last Updated: 3:37 PM 02/26/10 - “The city of Oxford, Ga., is already listed on a couple of computer Web sites as being a Georgia speed trap. Yesterday, I was about 50 feet behind a car headed north on Ga. 81 when a city of Oxford patrol car heading in the opposite direction turned on his blue light specials and whipped around to stop the car ahead of me. I was doing exactly 35 mph and the guy ahead of me couldn’t have been doing more than 2 mph more than I was — yet — our over aggressive police force saw fit to pull the driver over. I guess word has gone out to help finance Oxford’s new City Hall any way possible. Bummer!” (Full Story) |

Last Updated: 4:07 PM 02/11/10 - “I am ready for the people of Newton County to become outraged at the things that are happening in our school system. Teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, many are on their last leg, trying to keep their own families afloat, have now been forced to dig into their own pockets to provide what the county cannot. EIP, special ed teachers, kindergarten paraprofessionals are being pulled out of their classes to fill in when other teachers are out sick. That means children that need the extra help (that the state and federal government pay for) are not receiving this due to no substitutes. Special ed students are not being given all that the state says they are to receive by law. (Full Story) |
