Newton Poll - 07/10/2010
Last Updated: 5:10 PM 07/09/10 - “To the person who is complaining about why no one does anything for the western side of Newton County, why should we? It’s mostly full of starter homes that don’t pay enough in taxes to cover the services they use. It’s something we can blame on the commissioners that wanted and want affordable housing here. That side of the county is DeKalb County the 3rd, Rockdale County is Jr. Thank goodness when Aaron Varner was chairman they made it mandatory for 2-acre lots in east Newton, which will hopefully keep the east side of Newton desirable by forcing the developers to build higher-priced homes. If you look at where all of the crime is occurring most of it is in west Newton. People may move here for a better life with intentions of being good citizens of the community, but it’s your children, not the parents. No one owes them anything so they shouldn’t act like it.” (Full Story) |

Newton Poll - 07-03-2010
Last Updated: 2:31 PM 07/02/10 - Well Newton County residents get ready for a whirlwind. It’s rather scary and upsetting to think that we can lay off deputies, fire fighters and other county staff and not consider reducing the number of county commissioners! If they were fiscally responsible one of the first things they should have looked at were their own jobs. Why couldn’t we reduce to three commissioners and save the salary dollars of the other three? Read in the paper today that Sheriff Brown has to lay off 22 deputies — that’s right 22. They are already running short staffed and now it’s going to be worse. (Full Story) |

Newton Poll - 06/26/2010
Last Updated: 8:37 AM 06/25/10 - How many times have you heard ‘The majority of the American people voted for Obama?’ Granted, he received the majority — 53 percent — of the votes cast, and a majority of the Electoral College votes. Therefore, he is the president. However, he received only 22.3 percent (66.9 million) of the votes from the 300 million American people and only 31.5 percent of the 212.7 million American people eligible to vote. Why were the American people so blinded by a Socialist community organizer who has cost us 4.2 million jobs, tripled, our deficit and doubled our national debt?” (Full Story) |
