Photo detail

Sadie is a terrier-mix who is a victim of unemployment. Her family lost their jobs and couldn’t afford to keep her so they turned her in to Newton County Animal Control. Only 4 to 5 months old, this girl would love to have a new family for the holidays and would be grateful to them forever. She’s afraid of all the noise and the shelter and is looking for peace and tranquility. She’s been dewormed and is up-to-date on all shots. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
