It seems to me that Rockdale county government does not realize that when you build some form of infrastructure (roads, parks, sidewalks, etc.) there is an on-going associated maintenance cost that has to be funded throughout the life of that infrastructure. There are several factors that go into determining the maintenance schedule such as materials used, deterioration due to use, weather damage, etc., and the county should have a prioritized maintenance list for all county maintained property. The maintenance of county roads shoudld not be dependent on SPLOST funding as those funds fluctuate dependent on the economy and local sales.

If you can't fix what you already own why would you buy/build more? The county has not paved the roads in my neighborhood in over 20 years and state they cannot afford to do so now but they want to build a YMCA super structure. Check out the area next to the LA fitness gym near the GA 20/I-20 intersection.....there have been partially completed structures there since the gym was opened over 2 years ago. So now the county wants to build another gym with more surrounding business buildings that will stand empty and become part of the growing number of abandoned buildings that make the county look run down....what were the members of the BOC thinking to approve this type of project?
